Def Leppard w/ Billy Idol

Went out to see Def Leppard last night, and they put on a great show. Great musicianship as always... Vivian Campbell and Phil Collin make it look so easy. Joe Elliot sounded good although he's not quite able to hit those high notes like the old days. And their light and video stage show was incredible.

Opening act was Billy Idol and I was shocked at just how good he sounds these days. And Steve Stevens is a friggin guitar god.

Anyway, here are the set lists:

Billy Idol:
Cradle Of Love
Dancin' With Myself
Flesh For Fantasy
White Wedding
John Wayne
New Future Weapon
Mony Mony
Eyes Without A Face
Blue Highway
LA Woman
Ready Steady Go
Rebel Yell

Def Leppard:
Rocket
Animal
C'mon C'mon
Foolin
Mirror Mirror
9 Lives
Love Bites
Rock On
2 Steps Behind
Bringing On The Heartbreak
Switch
Hysteria
Armaggedon It

The Dark Knight & A Round Of Golf

Finally got to see "The Dark Knight" yesterday... I rarely go out to see movies anymore (why bother when I can get them for free and watch them in the comfort of our own home), but I am extremely glad I did this time!

Simply... amazing... movie!!!!

On the other hand, before going to the movies in the afternoon, I spent yesterday morning playing a round of golf with a bunch of the guys from work. Now, while I used to play a lot of golf in my late teens, that was over 20 years ago. However, I actually played pretty well considering. My swing started coming back to me after a few holes - I guess muscle memory can last a long time! I am definitely paying the price this morning however, I'm very stiff and sore... it was a lot of fun though and will definitely do it again if we can arrange another outing.

NERDGASM!!!!!!!1111111111one

I've been marking like a tween girl at a Jonas Bros. concert for about a week now, since I first saw this... I haven't been this excited about a movie probably since the original Star Wars movies when I was a kid.

For the full effect, I strongly suggest you watch it full screen on the official site rather than the shitty YouTube version above.

I've been watching "Flip That House" for like 4 hours straight...

There's something seriously fucking wrong with me.

P.S...

Not that anyone cares, I am sure, but I spend much more of my time on Facebook than I do LiveJournal, so if any of you reading this are on FB and would accept a friend request from ol' ESB, just drop me a line here and I will send you one!

Father of the Year!!!

Click here for the heart-warming story of a father who left his 2 year old locked up in a stifling hot car in a parking lot at 1:00 AM so he could go see The Dark Knight without having to drag his kid around with him in the theater...

So I got my new DSLR camera today...

...the Sony Alpha A200 - not the best on the market by any stretch of the imagination, but a solid entry level DSLR, and it was half the price of the comparable Nikon and Canon models. Sony bought out Minolta awhile back, and apparently old Minolta lenses are compatible, so I am hoping the collection of lenses from my old Minolta 35mm will work with this camera - haven't dug them out yet to test that theory.

Got to play with it a bit after work, mostly on Auto - it's been a helluva long time since I played around with shutter speeds, aperture settings, ISO's and all that crap, so I'm gonna have to teach myself all that stuff again. Seems to be a good camera so far, and the first few pictures I took outside today all turned out pretty well. Here's one I took of some ducks nesting in the creek bed nearby...

I've barely scratched the surface of the different things it can do, but I look forward to playing around with it in the weeks to come.

I realize I am 2 years behind the times...

...but I started watching "Brotherhood" tonight. Only the first episode so far, but I like the set up and anticipate some ultraviolent Irish mob goodness is yet to come!

George Carlin...

The man was a comedy god. I had the pleasure to see him live 4 or 5 years ago and it was definitely the best live comedy show I've ever seen or probably ever will see. While he will be missed, it's comforting to know we'll always have "Class Clown" or "A Place For My Stuff" or any of his other comedy classics to listen to.

Well, as it turns out...

...I may have been a bit premature with my mini-tribute to Benoit given how it has turned out. I can't for the life of me imagine what could have been so bad that it caused him to do what he did, however I suspect we will never know. I still appreciate everything he did in the business, however what he has done in life will forever taint that memory for me.
